German championship 1928/29

The twenty-third German football championship , played in the 1929/30 season , brought the Hertha BSC team the long-awaited championship title in the fifth consecutive finals . It was the first title in 19 years that went back to the capital. After ten minutes of play in the final, it looked like the Herthaners lost their fifth game, because after this time the team was already 2-0 down against the surprise finalists Holstein Kiel . In the end it was one of the most exciting and goal-rich finals in German football history 5: 4 for the Berliners.

There was a surprise in the north: For the first time since 1921, Hamburger SV failed to qualify for the finals. In the regional finals it was only enough for 4th place.

TSV Nürnberg-Ost celebrated its first title win at the ATSB this year . The last own soccer championship was played at the German Gymnastics Federation , from the coming season the clubs of the DT joined the German Football Association . The last champion of the German Gymnastics Association was the Kruppsche TG Essen . The German youth force played again no master.
