The Divizia B 1972/73 was the 33rd season of the second highest Romanian football league . Politehnica Iasi and Politehnica Timişoara rose in the Divizia A on.

The Divizia B was held in two seasons with 16 teams each. The two winners were promoted to Divizia A. There was no relegation this season, as the league was expanded in the following season. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, the goal difference decided first .
