Edvard Hambro

Edvard Hambro (born August 22, 1911 in Christiania , † February 1, 1977 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian politician and diplomat .

Life

Edvard Hambro graduated from Oslo University with a law degree in 1934 and received his PhD in political science from Geneva University in 1936 . After the end of the Second World War , he was the first chancellor of the newly established International Court of Justice in Geneva from 1946 to 1953 .

From 1961 to 1969 Hambro, who belonged to the conservative Høyre party, sat for Bergen in Storting . On September 15, 1970, he chaired the 25th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations . At that time he also represented his country as an ambassador to the United Nations. Between 1976 and 1977 he also acted as the Norwegian ambassador in Paris .
