Ernest Stankovski
Ernst Stankovski , actually Ernst Friedel Rudolf Stankovsky (born June 16, 1928 in Vienna ; died January 26, 2022 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian actor , director , chansonnier , cabaret artist and quiz master . life and education
Ernst Stankovski was the son of the commercial councilor and master hairdresser Rudolf Stankovski. He attended high school and completed an apprenticeship as a hairdresser, was a member of an amateur theater group, took singing lessons from 1945 and received dance training.
Stankovski's first marriage was to the actress Ida Krottendorf (1927-1998) and since 1961 his second marriage to the dancer Anna Luise Schubert (* 1934). The composer Alexander Stankovski (* 1968) came from this connection . Ernst Stankovski died on January 26, 2022 at the age of 93 in Klosterneuburg.
Career
After training as an actor at the renowned Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, Stankovski was a member of the ensemble at the Theater in der Josefstadt for four years from 1946 . From 1952 to 1954 he was engaged at the Bavarian State Theater, in 1955 at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , from 1956 to 1958 he played at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm and at the Renaissance Theater in Berlin , in 1959 at the Munich Kammerspiele and at the Theater Die Kleine Freiheit in Munich , in 1960 at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt , in the 1960s at the Kleine Komödie Munich , at the Fritz Rémond Theater in Frankfurt am Main , at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin and in the 1970s and 1980s at the Theater an der Wien , Theater in der Josefstadt, Wiener Volkstheater , at the Landesbühne Hannover , at the Thalia Theater Hamburg , the Theater des Westens in Berlin and at the Burgtheater . Stankovski worked with Fritz Kortner , Axel Corti and Peter Zadek , among others .
In addition to his work at the theater, Stankovski was also successful as a cabaret artist , chansonnier and film actor . In 1949 he made his film debut in Rudolf Steinboeck 's Liebe Freund . Since then he has acted in over 150 film and television productions. He was best known in 1960 alongside Heinz Rühmann as Oberleutnant Lukasch in the film The Good Soldier Schwejk , directed by Axel von Ambesser . In 2012, he appeared in front of the camera for the last time alongside Fritz Wepper and Gila von Weitershausen for the television film Everything but Love .
In the years 1960 to 1962 he presented the humorous Saturday evening show Fun with Ernst (Stankovski) on German television . Stankovski also made a name for himself as a quiz master. From March 29, 1969 to November 6, 1977, he moderated, assisted by Monika Strauch , once a month the quiz show Do you recognize the melody? on ZDF . The series was also broadcast on ORF . The programs first lasted 60 minutes, later 45 minutes. From the candidates, operas, operettas and musicals had to be guessed, which were presented in an alienated form (wrong decorations and costumes). Many well-known artists appeared in the individual episodes of the series.
In addition, Stankovski's translations and adaptations of Molière and François Villon attracted attention. He often worked for radio, including in Do you like musicals? (30 episodes), Ein Schalrl Nuß (14 episodes) and Scherzissimo (10 episodes).
awards
In 1975 Stankovski was awarded the German cabaret prize in the cabaret category, and in 1982 he received the Great Hersfeld Prize .
