history

Until the church is planted

The first mention of Falkenberg comes from the year 1011 in a letter of gift to the diocese of Bamberg . Presumably the seat of Falkenberg originated on the soil of the bishopric of Bamberg , because in 1011/12 King Heinrich II gave the bishopric a. a. Property in Valchonaperc in Isengau . However, there is evidence that the Hochstift Freising had possessions around 1158–84. 1158–1184 Rapoto et Burchardus et Udalricus de Valchenberch et frates eius Chunrad Scachmann et pater eius Heinricus Schachmann are assigned to this place . It is not possible to determine exactly what status they were. A Hugo de Valchenberch , who appears around 1190 accompanied by a Countess Elisabeth von Ortenburg , could possibly be related to this place.

In 1403 the Tetenpeck zu Falkenberg were named, in 1406 Hans Tatenbeck was named the owner of the seat. According to the fief book, the ducal fief of Hans Tattenbach can be dated to the beginning of the 15th century. This Hans Tattenbach appeared in various functions (e.g. as a sealer) (1416–1443) until the middle of the 15th century.

Around 1455, Balthasar Kienberger zu Falkenberg is named among the nobles of the Eggenfelden court ; also on September 29, 1471 this appears as the seal of a document. The next to be mentioned here is the Schachner family: Hans Schachner zu Falkenberg is enrolled on the Landtafel (1510–78). Other members of this family are a Siegmund and a Wolfgang ; with the latter, the male line dies out. With the marriage of Benigna , daughter of Wolfgang Schachner, with Gottfried Tattenbach zu Hausbach and Kirchberg , the property comes back to the Tattenbachs.

After the death of Heinrich Christian Graf von Tattenbach on October 3, 1821, all his possessions in the Eggenfelden court passed to his universal heir Max Joseph Maria Graf von Arco auf Valley . In 1803 the independent town of Falkenberg was incorporated into the Eggenfelden district court of the Electorate of Bavaria . The court brands Falkenberg, Hofau, Kirchberg, Sallach, Taufkirchen and the seat of Griesberg in the patrimonial court of Sallach were grouped under the Count Arco . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Oberhöft (until January 2, 1952 Diepoltskirchen II ) was merged with Falkenberg on January 1, 1970 to form the new municipality of Falkenberg. On January 1, 1972, areas of the dissolved community of Taufkirchen were added. On January 1, 1974, Fünfleiten (with the Diepoltskirchen incorporated on July 1, 1971, Diepoltskirchen I until January 2, 1952 ) was incorporated. Zell and parts of the area of the community of Unterdietfurt (parts of Huldsessen ) followed on May 1, 1978. The mayor of Zell Franz Pichlmeier was elected mayor of the enlarged community of Falkenberg. In 1983 the parts of the former municipality of Huldsessen were reclassified to Unterdietfurt.

Saint Laurentius Church

The medieval tower substructure of the church probably dates from the 13th century . The church choir dates from the 15th century , with the rest of the church being built in a modern Gothic style in 1857. The late Gothic church was built on a former castle chapel. The only original part of the chapel is the present presbytery . Below is a crypt in which some of the Tattenbach knights were buried. In the 1960s the church was renovated, with many wall paintings and the two side altars being lost.

From 1995 to 1997 the church was renovated again, with the roof and the tower in the foreground; Furthermore, new ceiling paintings and side altars were added. On September 16, 2001, Falkenberg received a new church organ .

coat of arms

Blazon : Under a golden shield head, in it a blue bow, in red a silver falcon ready to fly.

On September 16, 1976, the above coat of arms was approved at the request of the municipality of Falkenberg. In addition to its function as the coat of arms of the Falkenberg community, it also serves as a community seal.

Reason: In today's municipality, the most important landlords and court lords were the Counts of Tattenbach until about 1808. In 1821 the Hofmark Falkenberg, together with other court brands, came to the Salach Patrimonial Court , which had Count Arco as the sovereign. These two families, which are important for the history of the municipality, are represented in the new municipal coat of arms by the family coat of arms of the Arco - blue arch in a golden field - and by the coloring in the lower half of the coat of arms - red and white. The falcon indicates the name of the community.
