Official description of the municipal coat of arms: In blue a white, jumping horse. Community colors: blue-white-blue.

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1007. The name is derived from Puchkyrchen (= church near the beech forest). The place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then 'Innbaiern'). Briefly Bavarian again during the Napoleonic Wars , since 1814 it has finally belonged to Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

Population development

In 1991 the municipality had 2,472 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 2,546 inhabitants. The increase occurred, although the migration balance was negative, because of the strongly positive birth balance . From 2001 to 2011, emigration increased, so that despite the continued positive birth balance, the population rose only slightly to 2,554 people.

politics

Mayor is Albert Troppmair from the ÖVP.

Town twinning
