Office building of the BusinessCampus in Rheinbach

To support students and graduates who want to set up their own businesses, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, the Rhein-Sieg district and the Kreissparkasse Köln have jointly founded the BusinessCampus Rhein-Sieg GmbH. It operates the start-up centers at the Sankt Augustin and Rheinbach universities. Young companies can rent offices there and use the infrastructure and services.

Well-known students

Others

Every year since 2010, the university has awarded an internal university innovation prize. A different focus is advertised every year.

In March 2007, the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences was awarded the basic certificate “family-friendly university”. In June 2010, Federal Family Minister Kristina Schröder issued the certificate for a further three years.

Since the beginning of the summer semester 2005, the city of Sankt Augustin has had an independent fire brigade unit made up of students and university employees. The approximately 15 members of this fire fighting group are housed with their equipment in the university building. All of them are also in a volunteer fire brigade in their home community , where they also completed their basic training and advanced courses. The fire fighting group drives operations throughout the city, which increases the daily availability of emergency services.

In December 2005 the university's own student radio was founded, which broadcast three times a week as fhradio on the frequency 96.8 MHz. Students at the University of Bonn also broadcast on this frequency. From initially six groups, the two independent broadcasters bonncampus 96,8 and radio96acht Bonn emerged in 2009 , which merged on July 5, 2013 to form the new broadcaster bonnFM , which has since acted as campus radio for both universities.

The university was mentioned in the computer game Deus Ex: Human Revolution . A player-findable e-book in the final section of the game reports a speech by Hugh Darrow, the inventor of the game's controversial augmentation technology, at the college that took place in 2016 (the game is set in 2027).
