history

The first written mention of the place took place in the 12th century under the name Fuiens ; The name Fuens has been handed down from 1360 . The place name is derived from the personal name Fugila and means with the suffix -ens as much as for the people of Fugila.

In the Middle Ages Fuyens first belonged to the Lords of Billens, later to the County of Romont, which was under the sovereignty of the Dukes of Savoy . When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the village came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Romont. The monasteries of Hauterive and La Fille-Dieu near Romont had rich property and tithe rights in Fuyens. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), the village belonged to the Romont district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. With effect from January 1, 1978 Fuyens was incorporated into Villaz-Saint-Pierre . Fuyens does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish of Villaz-Saint-Pierre.
