Auboranges ( Freiburger Patois ) is a municipality in the Glane district in the canton of Friborg in Switzerland .
geography
Auboranges lies at 650 m above sea level. M. , 15 km southwest of the district capital Romont and 10 km south of Moudon (air line). The scattered settlement community extends on the western slopes of the Broye valley , in the southwest of the Freiburg Central Plateau .
The area of the 1.9 km² municipal area includes a section on the upper reaches of the Broye. The community soil extends from the course of the Broye westward over the broad valley below and to the adjacent Molasse height , at 719 m above sea level. M. at the corridor La Montagne the highest point of Auboranges is reached. The western border runs along the Parimbot (left side brook of the Broye). In the north the area extends into the Les Côtes forest . In 1997, 8% of the municipal area was accounted for by settlements, 9% for forests and woodlands and 83% for agriculture.
Several individual farms belong to Auboranges. The neighboring municipalities of Auboranges are Ecublens and Rue in the canton of Friborg and Oron , Essertes , Servion and Jorat-Mézières in the canton of Vaud .
population
With 289 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018), Auboranges is one of the small communities in the canton of Friborg. 94.4% of the residents are French-speaking, 2.2% German-speaking and 1.1% speak Czech (as of 2000). The population of Auboranges was 137 in 1850 and 151 in 1900. After a peak around 1930 (193 inhabitants), the population decreased by almost 40% to 121 people by 1970 due to strong emigration. Since then, the population has increased significantly again.
economy
Until the second half of the 20th century, Auboranges was a predominantly agricultural village. Even today, livestock and dairy farming and, to a lesser extent, arable farming play an important role in the income structure of the population. Further jobs are available in local small businesses and in the service sector. In the last few decades the village has developed into a residential community. Many people in employment are therefore commuters who work in the Oron or Lausanne regions.

The community is located off the main thoroughfares on a connecting road from Oron-la-Ville to Mézières . Auboranges has no connection to the public transport network.
history
The first written mention of the place took place in 1155 under the name Alburengens . Later the names Arborenges (1175), Alborengis (1190), Alborenges (1215), Arboreinges (1238), Alburenges , Auborenges (1273), Aulbrenges (1638), Auborange (1668) and Borenges (1762) appeared. The place name goes back to the Burgundian personal name Albwar and means for the people of Albwar .
Auboranges belonged to the Counts of Savoy since the Middle Ages . The village came to the Abbey of Saint-Maurice through an exchange in 1317 , while Vuadens went to the Savoy in return . In 1536 Auboranges came under the rule of Freiburg and was assigned to the bailiwick of Rue. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), the village belonged to the Rue district during the Helvetic and the subsequent period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. The village does not have its own church. Before the Reformation it belonged to the parish of Châtillens , since then to that of Promasens .
