The names Walmarens (1334), Warmarens (1578) and Varmarans (1668) appeared later , while the current name Vuarmarens (1403) was first handed down. The place name is derived from the Germanic personal name Walmar and means with the suffix -ens as much as for the people of Walmar .

The area of Vuarmarens belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Maurice in the High Middle Ages . Together with Montet (Glâne), Vuarmarens formed the small lordship of Villardin (also called Montet-Villardens) from the Middle Ages , which had belonged to different lords since the 13th century. When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, Vuarmarens came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Vogtei Rue. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), the village belonged to the Rue district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. Vuarmarens does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish of Ursy-Morlens, which originally goes back to the church of Morlens.
