history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1427 under the name es Escace ; later the settlement was also called La Ville du Bois ès Ecasseys . Since it was first mentioned, the place belonged to the lordship of Rue , which was under the sovereignty of the Counts of Savoy . When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, Les Ecasseys came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Rue. Since the 17th century, a large part of the municipality was owned by the Freiburg Lamberger family, who ran a farm here. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), the village belonged to the Rue district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. Ecclesiastically, Les Ecasseys belongs to Le Crêt .

As part of the municipal mergers supported by the canton of Friborg since 2000, Les Ecasseys was incorporated into Vuisternens-devant-Romont with Lieffrens , Sommentier , La Magne , La Joux , Villariaz and Estévenens with effect from January 1, 2003 .
