La Neirigue ( Friborg Patois La Nèrivouè ^?^/^I ) is a town and formerly an independent political municipality in the Glane district of the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . On January 1, 2004, La Neirigue was incorporated into Vuisternens-devant-Romont .

geography

La Neirigue is 740 m above sea level. M. , four kilometers north-northeast of Vuisternens-devant-Romont and three kilometers east-southeast of the district capital Romont (beeline). The village extends in the valley basin of the Neirigue between the height of Les Brévires in the west and the range of hills of Mont Gibloux in the east, above the mouth of the Mausson stream , in the Molasse hill country of the Freiburg Central Plateau . The former municipality area was around 1.4 km². The area comprised a section on the middle course of the Neirigue and reached in the west to the forest height of Les Brévires (up to 843 m above sea level ).

population

With 60 inhabitants (2002), La Neirigue was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. Several individual farms belong to La Neirigue.

economy

La Neirigue still lives mainly from agriculture , in particular from the dairy industry (for cheese production) and cattle breeding . A mill used to be operated by the water power of the Neirigue.

traffic

The place is away from the larger thoroughfares on a connecting road from Berlens to Grangettes . La Neirigue has no connection to the public transport network.

history

The place name is derived from the Latin words Nigra aqua (black water). La Neirigue has been under the rule of Grangettes since the Middle Ages . When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the village came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Romont. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), La Neirigue belonged to the Romont district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848.

As part of the municipal mergers funded by the Canton of Friborg since 2000, a merger of La Neirigue with Grangettes and Le Châtelard was initially up for discussion. Because this merger project had not yet progressed far enough, the villagers unanimously decided in 2003 to merge with Vuisternens-devant-Romont , which became legally binding on January 1, 2004.

Attractions

The chapel of La Neirigue dates from 1651; the village belongs to the parish of Berlens.
