Les Glânes used to be an independent political municipality in the Glane district of the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . On January 1, 1981, Les Glânes was incorporated into Romont . Since Les Glânes was a scattered settlement , consisting of several farmsteads, none of which had the municipality name, the name Les Glânes subsequently disappeared from the Swiss maps.

geography

Les Glânes was around 760 m above sea level. M., one and a half kilometers east of the district capital Romont (beeline). The former municipality area was around 2 km². It comprised the gently sloping slope east of the Glâne below Berlens in the Molasse hill country of the southwest Freiburg Central Plateau . The municipality of Les Glânes reached the highest point at 777 m above sea level. M. at the farm La Montagne ; to the northeast it stretched to the Champ Botty farm .

population

With 81 inhabitants (1980), Les Glânes was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. In 1870 the community had 108 inhabitants, in 1950 124 inhabitants, after which there was a strong emigration. The scattered settlement community consisted of a number of farm settlements and individual farms and thus lived exclusively from agriculture .

history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1349 under the name Deis Glanes . Since it was first mentioned, Les Glânes belonged to the County of Romont, which was under Savoy suzerainty. When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the area came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Romont. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Les Glânes belonged to the Romont district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. With effect from January 1, 1981, Les Glânes was incorporated into Romont. However, the courtyards of the former municipal area still belong to the parish of Villaz-Saint-Pierre .
