history
The municipality of Estévenens was settled very early, which has been proven by the remains of a Gallo-Roman settlement. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1403 under the name Estevenens .
Estévenens formed together with Grangettes their own small rule, which was under the sovereignty of the Counts of Savoy . When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the village came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Romont. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Estévenens belonged to the Romont district during the Helvetic and subsequent periods and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. Estévenens does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish of Vuisternens-devant-Romont.
As part of the community mergers promoted by the canton of Friborg since 2000, Estévenens was incorporated into Vuisternens-devant-Romont with Lieffrens , Sommentier , La Magne , Les Ecasseys , La Joux and Villariaz with effect from January 1, 2003 , after the community had already been incorporated in 2000 had been placed under cantonal administration.
