La Magne is a hamlet and formerly an independent political municipality in the Glane district of the canton of Friborg in Switzerland . On January 1, 2003, La Magne was incorporated into Vuisternens-devant-Romont together with a number of other communities .
geography
La Magne is 850 m above sea level. M. , two and a half kilometers south of Vuisternens-devant-Romont and seven kilometers south of the district capital Romont (beeline). The scattered settlement extends on the northeast slope of the forest hill Bois du Chanex , above the wide valley low of the Neirigue , in the Molasse hill country of the Freiburg Central Plateau . The former municipality area was around 0.9 km². The area covered a small section of the slope of the Bois du Chanex and was bordered to the east by the valley of the Ruisseau des Grands Marais .
population
With 52 inhabitants (2002), La Magne was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Friborg before the merger. The place consists of the farm estate Le Clos and several individual farms.
economy
La Magne still lives mainly from agriculture , in particular from dairy farming (for cheese production) and cattle breeding .
traffic
The place is off the main thoroughfares, but is easily accessible from the main road from Romont to Bulle . La Magne has no connection to the public transport network.
history
La Magne used to be called L'Allemagne . The area of La Magne was part of the Vuisternens-devant-Romont dominion. When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the village came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Romont. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), La Magne belonged to the Romont district during the Helvetic and subsequent periods and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. La Magne belongs to the parish of La Joux.
As part of the municipal mergers supported by the canton of Friborg since 2000, La Magne was incorporated into Vuisternens-devant-Romont with Lieffrens , Sommentier , Les Ecasseys , La Joux , Villariaz and Estévenens with effect from January 1, 2003 .
