history
The area of Bionnens was settled very early, which could be confirmed by some finds from the Roman period. The first written mention of the place took place in 1369 under the name Byonens ; In 1394 the spelling of Bionens appeared .
The Bionnens, which had been under the sovereignty of the Counts of Savoy since it was first mentioned , formed its own small lordship that lasted until the 16th century. When the Bernese conquered Vaud in 1536, the village came under the rule of Friborg and was assigned to the Vogtei Rue. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Bionnens belonged to the Rue district during the Helvetic and the following period and was incorporated into the Glâne district in 1848. Bionnens does not have its own church, it belongs to the Ursy-Morlens parish.
As part of the municipal mergers funded by the canton of Friborg since 2000, Bionnens was incorporated into Ursy together with Vauderens and Mossel with effect from January 1, 2001 .
