Giro dell'Emilia
The Giro dell'Emilia is an Italian cycling race .
The Giro dell'Emilia is a one-day race held that since 2005 UCI Europe Tour counts and in the highest UCI Category 1.HC is classified. The race was held for the first time in 1909 and has been held almost every year in October since then. The first Giro dell'Emilia still had 310 kilometers, but the length of the route was gradually shortened in the following years, so that it is currently held over a good 200 kilometers. The course is located around the city of Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region . In recent years, a circuit has been established south of Bologna, which is driven four times. The highest point of the route is the 868 meter high Passo Serra dello Zanchetto.
The record winner is the Italian Costante Girardengo , who won the Giro dell'Emilia five times. So far, Jan Ullrich has been the only German to win the 2001 race.
In 2014, the women's race Giro dell'Emilia Donne Elite was held for the first time on the same day . The race was part of the 2014 UCI road cycling calendar and classified there in category 1.2. The winner of the first edition was the Italian Rossella Ratto .
