This page describes the qualification for the 2011 Men's Handball World Championship .

Africa

The three participants from Africa were determined at the 2010 African Championship . The championship took place in the form of a tournament from February 10 to 21, 2010 in Egypt's capital Cairo .

The three groups with four teams each were drawn on November 24, 2009 in Abidjan .

Europe

Europe provides twelve participants in the world championship. Sweden as hosts and France as defending world champions are also automatically qualified . The three best teams from the 2010 European Championship qualify directly . Since European champions France were already qualified as defending world champions, Poland (fourth) joined Croatia (second) and Iceland (third) .

Qualifying round

The teams not represented at the European Championship competed in a qualifying round from January 15 to 17, 2010 in group matches. The seven group winners then compete in the elimination round against the European championship participants.
