Jörg Bundschuh (producer)

Jörg Bundschuh (born August 19, 1953 in Heidelberg ) is a German film producer , author and director .

biography

After attending high school and graduating from high school, he studied philosophy , literature and economics in Heidelberg / Mannheim , New York and Munich . During his studies, as a freelance radio writer and director, he wrote numerous cultural and scientific programs for various ARD broadcasters, including one-hour programs about the so-called “exile writers” who had to flee Germany during the Nazi dictatorship. This is how radio features about Siegfried Kracauer and Hermann Kesten were created . In 1979, Bundschuh completed his master's degree at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and began doing a doctorate on Siegfried Kracauer.

While still a student, he had started to write for several years as a freelance journalist and film critic for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and as an author for Die Weltwoche , Text + kritik and as a columnist for epd film . He founded in 1980 together with Christian Bauer , the Kick Film production in Munich. The first film was a one-hour TV documentary for ARD about the success of the so-called New German Cinema in the USA with the title Premiere in America . Since 1990 he has been the sole owner and managing director of Kick Film GmbH, which also had a branch in Los Angeles for five years in the 1990s .

Since 2006 his son Moritz Bundschuh has also been working as a producer and second managing director at Kick Film.

Bundschuh produced around 200 cinema, documentary and feature films as well as television documentaries, documentary series and television games , which as a rule are not commissioned productions but co-productions for the international market.
