La Chapelle-Orthemale is located about 20 kilometers west-northwest of Châteauroux on the Indre , which borders the municipality in the north. La Chapelle-Orthemale is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villedieu-sur-Indre in the north and east, Neuillay-les-Bois in the south, Vendœuvres in the west and south-west and Buzançais in the west and north-west.
