Niherne is a French commune with 3,642 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Indre department of the Center-Val de Loire region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Châteauroux and the canton of Buzançais (until 2015: canton of Châteauroux-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Nihernois .
geography
Niherne is about nine kilometers west-northwest of Châteauroux on the Indre . Niherne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villedieu-sur-Indre in the north and north-west, Villers-les-Ormes in the north-east, Saint-Maur in the east, Luant in the south and Neuillay-les-Bois in the west and south-west.
