Arthon is a French commune with 1,250 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Indre in the Region Center-Val de Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Châteauroux and the canton of Ardentes . The inhabitants are called Arthonnais .
geography
Arthon is about 13 kilometers south of Châteauroux . Here the river Creuzançais flows into the Bouzanne . Arthon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Poinçonnet in the north and northeast, Jeu-les-Bois in the east, Buxières-d'Aillac in the southeast, Bouesse in the south and Velles in the west.
