Levroux is a French commune with 2,947 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Indre in the Region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Châteauroux and the canton of Levroux .
It was created as the Commune nouvelle of the same name with effect from January 1, 2016 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of Levroux and Saint-Martin-de-Lamps , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Levroux.
With effect from January 1, 2019, the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-Lamps was also integrated into the Commune nouvelle and is also a Commune déléguée.

geography
The community is located around 20 kilometers northwest of Châteauroux . The A20 motorway runs about five kilometers east of the municipality. The river Céphons has its source here and drains in a north-westerly direction to the Nahon . Neighboring municipalities are: Bouges-le-Château in the north, Bretagne in the northeast, Brion in the east, Vineuil in the southeast, Villegongis in the south, Francillon and Argy in the southwest, Sougé and Frédille in the west, and Gehée and Moulins-sur-Céphons in the northwest.
