La Tour-d'Aigues is a French municipality with 4287 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Pertuis in the Apt arrondissement .
geography
La Tour-d'Aigues is located in the southeast of the Vaucluse department and is surrounded by the municipalities of Ansouis , Pertuis , La Bastidonne , Mirabeau , Grambois , Saint-Martin-de-la-Brasque and La Motte-d'Aigues . The closest town is Pertuis in the southwest ( 5 km ).
In the north of the municipality, the mountains of the covers Luberon with the Luberon Regional Nature Park , to which the municipality belongs. To the south of La Tour-d'Aigues lies the Durance valley . The municipality is traversed by the 24 km long river Èze, which flows into the Durance southwest of Pertuis.

The départementale route D956 comes from the southwest from Pertuis and continues northeast to Grambois.
The closest train station is Pertuis , which provides connections to the cities of Lyon , Marseille and Aix-en-Provence .
history
The city owes its name to a medieval fortress that was built in the 11th century. In the late 18th century, the city experienced an economic boom through the cultivation of grain and wine, as well as the manufacture of textiles and faience .

Attractions
- La Tour-d'Aigues Castle (completely renovated in the 16th and 17th centuries, burned down just before the French Revolution ). Caterina de 'Medici was received in the castle in 1579.
- Faience museum in the basement of the castle.
- Church Notre-Dame-de-Romegas from the 13th century, enlarged in the 18th century
- Maison d'Estienne du Bourguet , built between 1658 and 1671, with murals from the 17th century
