history
Several inscriptions in the Gallic language and the Greek alphabet and the finds in a necropolis suggest that the village was populated by a mixed population of Celts and Ligurians .

politics
Saignon belongs to the municipal association Pays d'Apt .
The municipality's coat of arms is red and shows three golden castles with two towers and an open donjon . The openings are black. The castles stand on three black rocks with silver cracks. The heraldic shield is supported by two crossed oak branches and a golden crown with three tower-shaped points hovers over it. The three castles represent the destroyed castles, the castle on the rock of Bellevue (in the north), the Méjean castle (in the middle) and the Grigière castle (in the south near the church).
