Villelaure is a French municipality with 3477 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Pertuis in the Apt arrondissement .
geography
Villelaure is located in the south of the Vaucluse department. The closest city is Pertuis , which borders the municipality to the east . Other surrounding communities are Cadenet , Vaugines and Ansouis in the Vaucluse department, as well as Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade and Saint-Estève-Janson in the Bouches-du-Rhône department .
In the north of the municipality, the mountains of rises Luberon with the Luberon Regional Nature Park , to which the municipality belongs. The Durance forms the southern border of the municipality and at the same time the border with the Bouches-du-Rhône department.
traffic
The D973 runs south of the community center on an east-west axis.
The Cheval-Blanc – Pertuis railway runs parallel to the D973, but has not been open to passenger traffic since 1971.

- Parish Church of Saint-Marc (17th century)
- Château de Forbin (private) east of the village center, restored in 2010.
- Vieux Château , east of the village, also known as Château de la reine Laure ("Queen Laure's Castle"): fortified building from the 10th century, unfinished extension in the Provencal Renaissance style at the end of the 16th century, has similarities with the castle from La Tour -d'Aigues .
- Château Verdet Kléber , late 18th century.
- Château de Callier (13th to 18th centuries)
- Parish church of Saint-Marc, built in place of the first church from the 9th century, possibly reconstructed in the Middle Ages, then destroyed in the 16th century. Current church built in 1620. Due to the population growth in the 18th century, the construction of a new nave was necessary between 1772 and 1775. In 1819 a square bell tower was built. During new restoration work in 1918, the ceiling of the nave was replaced by a light vault.
- The Fabrique is a former sugar factory, built between 1832 and 1835 by Marquis Joseph II de Palamède de Forbin. The factory extends over an area of 141 by 155 meters. The operation was stopped after ten years because the soil was exhausted and the last sugar crop was destroyed by aphids.
