history

The place name is derived from a first church that has now disappeared and was mentioned for the first time in 1092 under the name Et ecclesiam Sancti martini de labrasca .

The original settlement was on the oak hill of Le Castelas and was abandoned in the 15th century. Archaeologists have recovered the remains of a medieval moth erected on a rock and a castle that burned down in the 16th century. The reconstruction of the village took place nearby on flat terrain. As in the neighboring town of La Motte-d'Aigues, several families from the surrounding villages were settled by a decree from 1506, each with a plot of the same size. The village was given a rectangular floor plan, which is quite unique for the region, and which has been preserved to this day.
