Sannes is a French municipality with 240 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Pertuis in the Apt arrondissement .
geography
Sannes is located in the southeast of the Vaucluse department and is surrounded by the municipalities of La Motte-d'Aigues , Cabrières-d'Aigues , Cucuron and Ansouis . The closest town is Pertuis in the south ( 7 km ).
In the north of the municipality, the mountains of rises Luberon with the Luberon Regional Nature Park , to which the municipality belongs. South of Sannes is the Durance valley .

The départementale D27 route continues on the west-east axis from Cucuron towards Grambois .
The closest train station is Pertuis , which provides connections to the cities of Lyon , Marseille and Aix-en-Provence .
history
Sannes was first mentioned in 1045 under the name Castrum Aciane . The current name is probably of Celtic origin: the word sagno means "moorland or marshland". In Provencal the meaning changed to a kind of reed grass .
In the Middle Ages Sannes belonged to the Sabran family from Ansouis, whose claim to power was confirmed by a court decision in 1468. In the early 18th century, Sannes was married to the Saqui de Collobrières family . After the French Revolution , Sannes was given parish status and thus its independence back.
