The Roßlau district was a district in the Halle district of the GDR . From 1990 to 1994 it existed as the district of Roßlau in the state of Saxony-Anhalt . His area is now in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld , in the district of Wittenberg and in the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau in Saxony-Anhalt. The seat of the district administration was in Roßlau .

The Roßlau district was south of the Hohe Fläming on the right bank of the Elbe .

The district of Roßlau bordered in a clockwise direction in the northwest on the districts of Zerbst ( Magdeburg district ), Belzig ( Potsdam district ), Wittenberg , Graefenhainichen , Dessau district and Köthen (Halle district).

history

On July 25, 1952, there was a comprehensive district reform in the GDR , in which, among other things, the states were dissolved and replaced by districts . The new Roßlau district with its seat in Roßlau was formed from a part of the then Zerbst district , which was assigned to the newly formed Halle district .

On May 17, 1990, the district was renamed the Roßlau district. Since the reunification of the two German states in October 1990, the district has belonged to the re-established state of Saxony-Anhalt . During the first district reform in Saxony-Anhalt , it became part of the Anhalt-Zerbst district on July 1, 1994 .

Roßlau, Brambach, Mühlstedt and Rodleben are now districts of the city of Dessau-Roßlau , Griebo is a district of the district town of Wittenberg , all other communities were incorporated into the city of Coswig (Anhalt) and thus belong to the district of Wittenberg .

The district was connected to the GDR motorway network through the Berlin Ring – Hirschberg motorway with the Coswig junction. The F 107 from Coswig to Genthin, the F 184 from Magdeburg via Roßlau to Leipzig , the F 187 from Roßlau to Wittenberg and the F 187a from Coswig via Hundeluft to Zerbst also served national road traffic .

The Roßlau district was integrated into the GDR railway network through the Dessau – Roßlau – Magdeburg , Roßlau – Wiesenburg and Roßlau – Falkenberg / Elster railway lines.

License Plate

After 1952, the vehicles registered in the district were given license plates beginning with the letter K (as in the entire GDR district of Halle). License plates with the initial letter V were added later. Motor vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) and trailers were assigned three-letter distinctive signs starting with the letter pairs KV and VV from around 1974 to the end of 1990 . The last number plate series used for motorcycles was VV 00-01 to VV 99-99 .

At the beginning of 1991 the district received the distinctive sign RSL . It was issued until June 30, 1994. It has been available in the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau since November 27, 2012 .
