The 1500 Meters of women in the 1978 European Athletics Championships was on 1 and 3 September 1978 Stadium Evžena Rošického of Prague held.
European champion was Giana Romanowa from the USSR. She won ahead of the Romanian Natalia Mărăşescu , former Natalia Andrei, who had already won silver over 3000 meters five days earlier . Bronze went to the Bulgarian Totka Petrowa .

European champion Giana Romanowa improved the existing championship record in the final on September 3rd by 3.24 seconds to 3: 59.01 minutes.
