The 5000-meter race of the men at the 2014 European Athletics Championships was on 17 August 2014 in the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

In this competition, the British runners won two medals, gold and bronze. European champion became with Mohamed Farah the dominant long-distance track runner of these years. He was the defending champion, double European champion from 2010 ( 5000 / 10,000 meters ), double Olympic champion from 2012 (5000 / 10,000 meters), world champion from 2011 over 5000 meters and double world champion from 2013 (5000 / 10,000 meters). Four days earlier, Mo Farah had already won the 10,000 meter run here. Second place went to Hayle İbrahimov from Azerbaijan . Andrew Vernon , runner-up in the 10,000 meter run, won the bronze medal.
