Leopold Sonntag (born November 17, 1830 in Schopfheim , † March 9, 1896 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German administrative lawyer in the Grand Duchy of Baden .

Life

Leopold Sonntag was the son of pastor Karl Ludwig Sonntag (* 1796 in Bötzingen ; † 1840 in Badenweiler ) in Badenweiler. He married on July 3, 1862 in Offenburg Anna geb. Betz (born April 24, 1841 in Karlsruhe ). This marriage resulted in four children: Julius (born April 5, 1863 in Gengenbach ), Friedrich (born June 4, 1864 in Heidelberg ), Amalie (born November 16, 1865 in Heidelberg) and Elisabeth (born April 16, 1869 in Wiesloch ; † July 16, 1869 ibid).

education

After graduating from the Grand Ducal Gymnasium in Freiburg on August 21, 1850, Sonntag studied law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg from the winter semester 1850/51 . He became a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg . In the summer semester of 1852 he continued his studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , where he also joined the Corps Guestphalia Bonn . In the winter semester of 1852/53 he moved to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . He then returned to the University of Freiburg, where he completed his studies in 1854.

On January 7, 1856, he became an administrative actuary at the second civil responsibility of the Mosbach district office and then from August 4, 1856 at the Emmendingen district office . On January 26, 1858, Sonntag became a volunteer at the first traineeship at the Freiburg Municipal Court. After passing the second state examination , he was a brief lawyer at the court in Freiburg.

On May 1, 1859, he became an actuary at the Waldkirch district office and on January 23, 1861 at the Freiburg im Breisgau municipal court. On September 23rd of the same year he came to the Gengenbach District Office as administrator . As an assistant he was at the Triberg District Office (November 1, 1862) and at the Baden Oberamt Heidelberg (February 10, 1863).

On July 15, 1864 he was appointed bailiff of the Heidelberg district office . Since December 7, 1867, he was the head of the Wiesloch district office , and on April 14, 1869, he was promoted to senior bailiff. He was then head of the district offices of Kork (March 11, 1871), Bretten (January 24, 1877), Durlach (May 28, 1879) and Lörrach (October 25, 1883). There on April 24, 1887 for walking. Appointed a government councilor, he came to the Freiburg District Office on October 1, 1890, as an official director

When the Dreisam flooded in March 1896 and tore the bridge at the Schwabentor away, Sonntag and his superior Carl Siegel wanted to get an idea of ​​the damage. Both fell into the water and drowned.
