history

Lippertsreute

The name of the place (- reute ) indicates that Lippertsreute developed from a clearing settlement from the 9th or 10th century. Lippertsreute was mentioned for the first time in 1158 as Luipendetisruti .

In the 12th century the place was owned by St. Stephan in Konstanz , later by St. Johann in Konstanz. The Lords of Bodman ruled Lippertsreute in the 13th century. The Imperial Abbey of Salem acquired goods in the village in 1217. In 1280 Lippertsreute came to the Johanniterkommende from Überlingen, who in 1337 sold the place to the German Order Commander Mainau .

Until 1805 Lippertsreute remained in the possession of the Teutonic Order on Mainau within the Altshausen regional commandery . Due to the long time in possession of the order, today's coat of arms still bears the Johanniterkreuz in the shield . In 1806 Lippertsreute became an independent, grand-ducal-Baden community in the Überlingen district office (from 1939 district ) and was finally incorporated into the city of Überlingen on April 1, 1972 .

In 2004 Lippertsreute was recognized as a resort. In the national competition Our City Blooms ( Entente Florale ), Überlingen received a gold medal in 2005 with the participation of the districts of Lippertsreute and Deisendorf ; In 2008 the place celebrated its 850th anniversary.

Ernatsreute

As with Lippertsreute, Ernatsreute is a clearing settlement that was first mentioned in 1213 when a nobleman named Conradus de Eradesriuti had his seat there (later Herlansriuti ). The place came to the Heilig-Geist-Spital Überlingen in 1408 and was thus part of the Bambergen Hospital Office . In addition to the Überlingen rule in Ernatsreute, the Teutonic Knights from the island of Mainau also owned a feudal court there . From 1803 Ernatsreute was part of the then independent municipality of Bambergen until it was incorporated into Lippertsreute in 1924. The former small hamlet has been considerably enlarged since the 1960s due to new development areas.

religion

The Catholic Church of Our Lady

The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady is located in Lippertsreute and has been assigned to the parish of St. Peter and Paul in Owingen (within the Überlinger Münster parish ) since 1974 . The small St. Wendelin chapel is in Ernatsreute .

The former Lippertsreute parish included Baufnang and Berghof near Tüfingen and (at least around 1435) Hermannsberg (today part of Heiligenberg / Hattenweiler).

Attractions

There are several interesting half-timbered buildings in the village : including the listed Landgasthof Adler in the center of the village, which shows rich ornamental half-timbering from the 18th century and the old rectory built in 1668/69 with a crooked hip roof . The town hall from 1907/08 with an arcade on the ground floor, which is in neo-baroque style and can be attributed to the architecture of the Heimatschutz ( heritage protection) , should also be mentioned.

Our Lady

Probably the most striking building in Lippertsreute is the Catholic Church of Our Lady , which was built on the highest point in the center of the village and whose tower or spire can be seen from afar in the area surrounding the Linzgau. The building itself is a single-nave hall church built in 1881/82 in the neo-Gothic style with an attached choir , pointed arched windows and simple buttress .

In addition to a neo-Gothic altar, there are several sculptures inside the church , of which the rural mother of God dates from 1460. Three other wooden sculptures, dated to 1500, show the holy virgins Apollonia , Barbara and Katharina . There is also a late Gothic figure of Christ on the side altar and two angels from the Feuchtmeyer school on the tabernacle .

An oversized representation of the Last Judgment adorns the entire wall of the choir arch. It comes from the Mannheim painter Carolus Vocke , who installed it there in 1947.

The Landgasthof Adler in the center of Lippertsreuter

The original church was mentioned as early as 1275 and consecrated to St. New Year's Eve in 1282 (from 1435 patronage of Our Lady ). Around 1460 it received a church tower, the external shape of which - typical for the northern Lake Constance region - presented itself with a gable roof and a stepped gable .

Maria in the stone

The pilgrimage site Maria im Stein , which was mentioned in 1550, is located in the Aachtobel nature reserve below the Steinhöfe . The chapel at that time experienced the climax of the pilgrimage from 1720 to 1750, before the site was closed in the 19th century and the miraculous image was moved to the Lippertsreuter church.

A new chapel was not built in the old location until 1948 and has been used again for pilgrimages since then.
