Best pole quota: Juan Manuel Fangio

The list of pole-setters in Formula 1 lists all drivers, nations and designers of the Formula 1 World Championship (until 1980: Automobile World Championship ) who have been able to achieve the pole position since it was founded in 1950 . A driver is treated as a pole setter who has acquired the right to start from first place on the grid, usually through the best lap time in the final qualification .

According to drivers

In addition to the number of pole positions achieved, the following table shows the respective pole quota in relation to the Grand Prix starts - this is the relationship between the number of pole positions and the total number of starts. In addition, it gives both the time in which the respective driver was active in Formula 1 and an overview of the makes with which he achieved the pole positions. The names of the drivers who qualified for at least one Grand Prix in the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship are highlighted in gray.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix on August 4, 2019, Max Verstappen was the 100th driver to start from pole position in at least one Formula 1 World Championship run.
