The list of the 100 largest municipalities in Hesse compiles the 100 of the area according to the largest Hessian municipalities.

The three largest cities in Hesse are Frankfurt am Main , Wiesbaden and Oberzent . The largest municipality without municipal rights is the municipality of Diemelsee followed by Ludwigsau and Knüllwald . Among the 100 largest municipalities face Hesse are Region of Darmstadt , Giessen Region and Region of Kassel represented as follows.

Others

The list does not include areas in Hesse that are free of municipalities , although they are sometimes of considerable size ( Gutsgebiet Reinhardswald 184.16 km²). The largest municipality in terms of area in Rhineland-Palatinate is Kaiserslautern with 139.70 km², in Saarland Saarbrücken with 167.52 km² and in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Feldberger Seenlandschaft with 201.15 km².
