List of members of the Burgenland Landtag (8th legislative period)
This list of members of the Burgenland Landtag lists all members of the Burgenland Landtag in the eighth legislative period. The legislative period began on June 11, 1956 with the inauguration of the deputies and the election of the Presidium and ended after 64 sessions on May 5, 1960 with the inauguration of the IX. Legislative period . After the state elections on May 13, 1956 , 16 out of 32 seats went to the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), 15 to the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) and 1 to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).
As the first President of the State Parliament, the Presidium was initially chaired by the ÖVP member Josef Lentsch , who handed over the office to Lorenz Karall (ÖVP) on June 22, 1956 . The 2nd President of the Landtag, Hans Wastl (SPÖ) and the 3rd President of the Landtag, Johann Hautzinger (ÖVP), were in office throughout the entire period . Josef Schatz and Alfred Weichselberger acted as secretary, Alois Stimakovits and Paul Weiß were the stewards .
