Luchat is a western French community with 525 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Saintes and the Canton of Thénac (until 2015: Canton Saujon ). The inhabitants are called Luchatais .
location
Luchat is located in the old cultural landscape of the Saintonge about nine kilometers west-southwest of Saintes . Luchat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Clisse in the north, Pessines in the east, Varzay in the south and south-east, Pisany in the west and south-west and Corme-Royal in the north-west.
