Épargnes is a French municipality with 843 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Saintes and the canton of Saintonge Estuaire (until 2015: canton of Cozes ). The inhabitants are called Épargnais .

geography

Épargnes is located about five kilometers northeast of the Gironde estuary and about 80 kilometers north-northwest of Bordeaux . Neighboring municipalities of Épargnes are Cozes in the north, Saint-André-de-Lidon in the northeast, Virollet in the east, Chenac-Saint-Seurin-d'Uzet in the south, Barzan in the west and Arces in the west and northwest.
