Saint-Georges-des-Coteaux is a western French community with 2,692 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saintes and the canton of Saint-Porchaire (until 2015: canton of Saintes-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Georgais .
geography
Saint-Georges-des-Coteaux is about five kilometers west of Saintes in the middle of the cultural landscape of the Saintonge . Saint-Georges-des-Coteaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Écurat in the north and north-east, Saintes in the east and south-east, Nieul-lès-Saintes in the south and west and Les Essards in the north-west.
The A10 car route runs along the eastern edge of the municipality . Furthermore, the former route nationale 137 (today's D137) leads through the municipality.
