Le Chay is a western French community with 767 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Saintes and the Canton of Saujon . The inhabitants are called Chaytais .

geography

Le Chay is located about 25 kilometers west-southwest of Saintes in the old cultural landscape of the Saintonge . The Seudre River flows on the northern edge of the municipality . Le Chay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saujon in the north and north-west, Saint-Romain-de-Benet in the north-east, Corme-Écluse in the east, Semussac in the south and Médis in the west.
