Varzay is a western French community with 816 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saintes and the canton of Thénac (until 2015: canton of Saintes-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called Varzéens .
geography
Varzay is located about nine kilometers southwest of Saintes in the middle of the cultural landscape of the Saintonge am Arnoult . Varzay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pessines in the north and northeast, Chermignac in the east, Rétaud in the south, Thézac in the southwest, Pisany in the west and Luchat in the northwest.
Route nationale 150 runs through the municipality .
