Pessines is a western French community with 745 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente-Maritime in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Saintes and the canton Thénac (until 2015 canton Saintes-Ouest ). The inhabitants are called pessinois .

geography

Pessines is located about seven kilometers west-southwest of Saintes in the middle of the cultural landscape of the Saintonge . Pessines is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nieul-lès-Saintes in the north and north-west, Saintes in the east, Chermignac in the south and south-east, Varzay in the south-west and Luchat and La Clisse in the west.

Route nationale 150 runs through the municipality .
