Negreni [ neˈgrenʲ ] (outdated Fechetău ; Hungarian Körösfeketetó ) is a municipality in the Cluj County , in Transylvania , Romania .
The place Negreni is also known under the Hungarian name Feketetó .
Geographical location
The municipality of Negreni is located in the northeastern foothills of the Vlădeasa Mountains (Munții Vlădeasa) , a mountain range of the Apuseni Mountains (Munții Apuseni) in the north of the Motzenland in the west of the Cluj district. On the upper reaches of the Crișul Repede (Rapid Screech) , the Oradea – Cluj-Napoca railway and the national road 1 - part of the European route 60 - is the place Negreni about 30 kilometers northwest of the small town of Huedin and about 80 kilometers northwest of the county capital Cluj- Napoca (Cluj- Napoca ) .
The community consists of a total of 30 hamlets . Of these, 24 belong to the Negreni community center and six to the incorporated village of Bucea ( Királyhágó in Hungarian ).
history
The place Negreni was first donated to Stephan III at the end of the 13th century . mentioned in a document. An earth wall, called Cetatea Turcilor by the locals , north of Negreni opposite the train station , indicates that the region has been settled since Roman times . According to Flóris Rómer, a fortress was found on the area by the locals Cetaea Prilogului , the historical assignment of which is not yet known.
In the Kingdom of Hungary , today's community center was in the Élesd district (now Aleşd ) in the Bihar County . Subsequently, the municipality belonged to the historical Cluj District and from 1950 to the present Cluj District. Until July 2002, the three villages were administratively part of the neighboring municipality of Ciucea .
The community festival "Târgul Coaselor" (The Scythe Market) is supposed to announce the beginning of the mowing season and the well-known autumn market of the motzen "Târgul de toamnă de la Negreni" takes place on the first Sunday in October.

Since 1880 the highest number of inhabitants was registered in the area of today's municipality Negreni in 1941 and at the same time that of Romanians and Magyars. The highest number of inhabitants was Roma (54) in 2011 and that of Romanian Germans (4) in 1900. Furthermore, Slovaks were also registered in almost every census , the highest number being 169 in 1930.
The main occupations of the population are agriculture and wood processing.
Attractions
- On the area of the community center, a former rectangular Roman castle, 46 meters long and 44.5 meters wide, today an earth wall and called Cetatea Turcilor by the locals , is a listed building.
- In the incorporated village of Bucea, the wooden church Adormirea Maicii Domnului , built in 1791, is a listed building.
