In Night of the Proms 2014 is the 30th edition of the concert series of the same name, where many different artists participated from different genres.

background

The Night of the Proms is a series of concerts where classical music and pop music come together. The tour lasted half a year and took place in two sections. The first section took place in June 2014, when four concerts were played in the United States . The second tour section followed from November to December 2014, during which concerts were played in Europe. With 28 concerts, the British musician John Miles played the most concerts during the tour. The only participant from the German-speaking area was the German singer-songwriter Madeline Juno . The Bayerische Rundfunk broadcast a two-hour compilation of the concert series.

The concerts in the United States were the first shows outside of Europe . Because of the three-year anniversary, they wanted to take the “step across the Atlantic” for the first time. The preparations for this had been going on since 2011. The initiator for this was a former member of the management of James Brown , who opened the door to the American TV station PBS for the producers of the concert series . The large number of world hits by well-known artists in “unique” live versions with a large orchestra aroused the interest of the production company International Media, who immediately suggested producing eight episodes for US television. After viewing the material completely, 13 episodes were ultimately produced. Paul Emery became aware of the format through the TV production, who was already responsible for productions of the Blue Man Group and David Copperfield with his company Emery Entertainment . Emery attended the concerts in Munich in 2012 and was immediately enthusiastic about the format. He convinced AEG Live (the world's second largest concert promoter) to organize one or more test concerts in America. The US advertising campaign finally started on March 3, 2014 and finally the first concert on June 19, 2014 at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie .
