Saint-Julien-Maumont ( Occitan Sent Julian Momon ) is a French commune in the department of Corrèze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine on the western edge of the Massif Central . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Brive-la-Gaillarde and the canton of Midi Corrézien . The inhabitants call themselves Maumontois.

Tulle , the prefecture of the department, is about 40 kilometers north, Brive-la-Gaillarde about 24 kilometers northwest and Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne about 16 kilometers southeast.

history

Saint-Julien-Maumont was created in 1793 by merging the communes of Saint-Julien and Maumont. During the revolution the place was called Lime-et-Monmont. Today Saint-Julien-Maumont is divided into two parts: the old settlement is in the valley of the Maumont river. On the plateau above the village stands the new settlement, which is mainly inhabited by families who are professionally oriented towards Meyssac or Brive-la-Gaillarde .
