Malemort is a commune with 8,036 inhabitants (2013) in the department of Corrèze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Brive-la-Gaillarde and the canton of Malemort-sur-Corrèze , of which it is the main town (Chef-lieu). Malemort is a member of the Communauté d'agglomération du Bassin de Brive . The residents call themselves Malemortois .
The municipality was created with effect from January 1, 2016 as Commune nouvelle by merging the former municipalities of Malemort-sur-Corrèze and Venarsal .

geography
The municipality is located in the agglomeration east of Brive-la-Gaillarde . Neighboring communities are:
- Sainte-Féréole in the north,
- Saint-Hilaire-Peyroux in the east,
- Dampniat in the southeast,
- Cosnac in the south,
- Brive-la-Gaillarde to the west and
- Ussac in the northwest.
The municipality lies on both sides of the Corrèze river . This takes the Couze from the north in the district of Puymaret , and the Loyre and Pian brooks from the south on the western border .
Transport links
The most important road connection is the departmental road D2089, which leads from Brief-la-Gaillarde to Malemort-sur Corrèze and here joins the D1089, which forms a bypass to the A20 motorway to the northwest and follows the Corrèze valley up to the east. A railway line runs in this direction from Brive-la-Gaillarde towards Tulle .
