Turenne is a French municipality with 838 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Corrèze in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine on the western edge of the Massif Central . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Brive-la-Gaillarde and the canton of Saint-Pantaléon-de-Larche .
Turenne is classified as one of the Plus beaux villages de France ( Most Beautiful Villages in France ).
geography
The village is located 15 kilometers south of Brive-la-Gaillarde on the department road D 8, in the valley of the river Tourmente . To the northeast of today's village center is a hill with the largely preserved buildings of the medieval fortress.
In the southeast, in the district of Turenne Gare , the municipality's train station is on the railway line from Brive-la-Gaillarde to Figeac .
The Tourmente rises in the municipality of Turenne .

Attractions
- Medieval buildings, including the 7th century La tour César watchtower and the Turenne castle ruins , have been preserved. The large clock dates from the 9th century.
- The village church is dated to the 17th century.
- An altarpiece in the church also dates from the 17th century.
history
The village of Nazareth belonged to Turenne until 1924. This passed to the newly formed Jugeals-Nazareth community .
