Siirt ( Arabic سعرد, Kurdish Sêrt ) is a province in southeastern Turkey . Its capital is the city of the same name, Siirt . Siirt is between 600 and 1600 m high and has an area of 5,718 km². In the north are the provinces of Bitlis and Van . In the south the provinces of Şırnak and Mardin form the borders, in the west the province of Batman . The highest point in the province is Herekol Dağı at 2838 m.

history
Siirt's history goes back a long way. Siirt belonged to the Assyrians , the Babylonians and then the Medes and the Persians . The Romans , the Parthians and the Sassanids also ruled here. In 1514 it fell to the Ottomans . In 1919 Siirt became a sanjak of the Ottoman Empire and in 1923 a province of Turkey.
Attractions
Delikli Taş (Arabic: Ras al-Hajar), is one of the highest points in Siirt. The place is located directly on the Tigris and is two kilometers away from the city center.
