The Sirius XM Holdings Inc. is the parent company of Sirius XM Radio Inc., an American satellite radio -Anbieters. Sirius XM Radio Inc. was created in 2008 from the merger of the two former competitors Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio . As a result of a reorganization carried out in 2013, Sirius XM Radio Inc. became a 100% subsidiary of Sirius XM Holdings Inc., which also has a 38% stake in the Canadian company Sirius XM Canada.

Sirius XM Radio broke the 30 million subscriber mark in the US in 2016 .

In early 2009, Sirius XM Radio ran into financial problems that were averted by the entry of Liberty Media . Since then, Liberty Media has held 53.3% of Sirius XM.

Participations (selection)

On September 24, 2018, Sirius XM announced that it would completely take over Pandora Media for US $ 3.5 billion after acquiring 19% of the shares in Pandora for US $ 480 million in 2015. In February 2020, Sirius Xm invested $ 75 million in SoundCloud .

Content

SiriusXM provides nearly 1000 audio channels for subscribers through its service. Most programs are produced specifically for broadcast on Sirius XM. Only a few radio stations like KIIS-FM from Los Angeles broadcast via SiriusXM. The public networks PRX (Public Radio Exchange) and NPR (National Public Radio) each have one channel. A number of TV channels broadcast their audio track as the Sirius Channel, including Bloomberg TV , CNBC and the Fox Group ( Fox News Channel , Fox Business Network, and others).
