Sosnovoborsk ( Russian Сосновоборск ) is a city in the Krasnoyarsk region ( Russia ) with 33,091 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located about 45 km northeast of the regional capital Krasnoyarsk , on the right bank of the Yenisei .
The city of Sosnovoborsk is directly subordinate to the region.
Sosnovoborsk is located on a branch of the Trans-Siberian Railway , which connects Krasnoyarsk with the " closed city " Zheleznogorsk (only freight traffic, Zheleznogorsk is another 20 km northeast of Sosnovoborsk).
history
Sosnovoborsk was established in 1971 as a workers' settlement with the establishment of the Krasnoyarsk plant for automobile and tractor trailers northeast of the village. In 1973 it was named Sosnovoborsk (from Russian sosnovy bor for the pine forests widespread in the area ). At times, the place was part of Lenin Rajons the city of Krasnoyarsk, but received in 1985 city charter as an independent city.

In addition to the city-building plant for vehicle trailers (especially for KAMAZ trucks) there are companies in the food industry.
